USP's Research Support Program | Research Pro-Rectory

Projeto 1 - Auxílios Complementares:  This project has the goal to offer complementary resources to the faculty members of USP, preferencially those hired after janurary first 1995, with research projects partially financed by financing agencies (FAPESP, CNPq, FINEP, and others) in 2009 and 2010.

Projeto 4 - Programa de Bolsa de Treinamento Técnico para Estudantes de Graduação e Apoio a Grupos de Pesquisa: By supporting the online dissemination of the cientific activitis within USP, the Research Pro-Rectory has the goal to promote the divulgation of current projects at the university, disseminating the cientific knowlegment generated within its units, Specialized Institutes, Museums, Research Support Centers (NAPs), Research Centers, Inovation and Diffusion (CEPID), National institutes of Cience and Technology (INCT).

PROCONTES - Programa de Concessão de Pessoal Técnico de Nível Superior: This program has the goal to provide a graduated level of technical personal to outstanding researches with great demand, meeting a large number of researchers, to develop projects financed by oficial agencies.

Programa de Pré-Iniciação Científica (Pré-IC): The USP's program "Pré-Iniciação Científica (Pré-IC)", a USP's Research Pro-Rectory initiative, aims to support research projects within all the fields that might interest and encourage the students comming out of the public schools with the accompaniment of activities and coexisting with the procedures and methodologies used within cientific researches, offering oportunities to fulfill their personal personal formation, improving their knowlege and preparing them for their professional life.

Development Agencies:

FAPESP - Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo: FAPESP supports academic research in all areas of knowledge. The Foundation issues limited-term grants to fund specific research proposals that have been submitted to a rigorous peer-review system. Research proposals may be on themes defined by the Principal Investigator’s research interests, or may be submitted in response to specific calls for proposals. Most awards go to individuals or small groups of investigators.  Other awards provide funding for modernization and improvement of research infrastructure, equipment and facilities in institutions of higher education and research. CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior:CAPES' activities can be grouped in four main lines, each composed of a structured set of programs. The four lines are: (I) Stricto sensu post-graduate evaluation, (II) access to and promotion of scientific production, (III) investments in high-level resource training in Brazil and abroad and (IV) fostering international scientific cooperation. CNPq - O Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico:The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) is an agency linked to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT), dedicated to the promotion of scientific and technological research and to the formation of human resources for research in this country. Its history is directly linked to the scientific and technological development of Brazil. (more info)

FINEP – Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos: FINEP encourages and finances innovation and scientific and technological research that has the potential to extend knowledge and/or generate positive impacts on Brazilian social and economic development, with a view toward:

  • extending and improving the National S,T&I System, encouraging the production of knowledge and the improvement of scientific and technological skills in the country;
  • stimulating and supporting activities that encourage the expansion of the capacity for innovation, generation, and adaptation in technological and scientific knowledge, for the production of goods and services;
  • developing collaborative projects to successfully reach the targets established by the Federal Government's public policies.
