Welcome to the website of the Laboratory of Mammal Diversity and Conservation!

The Laboratory of Mammal Diversity and Conservation is part of the Department of Zoology (Zoologia) in the Institute of Biosciences (IB) of the University of São Paulo (USP). The work of the lab is linked to the graduate programs in Zoology (pós graduação Zoologia) and Ecology (pós graduação Ecologia) of the Institute.

Our research addresses the patterns of species diversity and distribution, as well as the mechanisms that determine and the factors that influence these patterns. Focusing on the Atlantic Forest mammals and using the ecological and biogeographic theories as a basis, we investigate how human-induced processes affect populations and species distribution. With this information, we aim to contribute to the design of strategies and procedures to allow for the conservation of biodiversity in sustainable landscapes.
